"Learners" I believe, but is "diligent" the right word to apply to activity that is, for me at least, so compulsive and disorganized?
Remember the quote:
“People with large book collections are almost always diligent learners.”
The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, Marie Kondo
I am so compulsive and disorganized too. AND I do have a large book collection.
Diligent means attentive, careful, assiduious ( attending; continually present, incessant; busy; constant)
So in this way, those with large book collections are attentive learners ... or constant learners... or incessant learners.
I am beginning to like the other ways of looking at stacks of books.
Hard working learners?
Today I bought a stopper paintbrush for LETTERING!

The word diligent associated with book collections--interesting. As you know we have a house full of books. Only one room without a bookcase. Have you seen Rhondi's lettering on fb. Beautiful. I'm learning to zentangle soon. And today I'm being crowned by your dentist!
Your ponderings here bring new light to my thoughts about having a large book collection, and constantly reading, and compulsive buying of books because they promise such wonderful things and new horizons to discover. How pleasing to be considered diligent for doing something so satisfying and easy to do as having one's nose constantly in some book or other!
Yes. Good to think about learning as being satisfying. Hungering...
Just nodding my head over here.
Wow, thank you! You have convinced me that even I can accept the descriptor DILIGENT. But it still makes me laugh. ;-)
me too, Gretchen!
