grace is grace

“I’m writing this in part to tell you that if you ever wonder what you’ve done in your life, and everyone does wonder sooner or later, you have been God’s grace to me, a miracle, something more than a miracle."
From Gilead by Marilynne Robinson

I came across this beautiful quote today. I could make lists everyday of those who have been God's grace to me. Robinson writes in her new book of essays, Givenness, Grace is grace.
It is harder to define. The sentence above brings to mind her definition. We long for more grace, don't we.

Some recent days:

Heading here this weekend:

" . . . if we have eyes to see and grace to build . . . "

A retreat for Charlotte Mason home educators

"Narrating is an art, like poetry-making or painting, because it is there, in every child's mind, waiting to be discovered, and is not the result of any process of disciplinary education... He has seen everything, and he tells everything with splendid vigour in the true epic vein; but so ingrained is our contempt for children that we see nothing in this but Bobbie's foolish childish way! Whereas here, if we have eyes to see and grace to build, is the ground-plan of his education."
Charlotte Mason, Home Education
