I totally agree with that quote. Always tell my kids that that sort of reading makes a person's brain happy.

Everyone should read Van Gogh's letters, but I had a hard time with the edited version. I did not like the way they were edited - I went and got the un-edited ones from the library - There are 4 Volumes!!! It totally changed the meaning of so much of what I was reading and suddenly there were so many more questions. Van Gogh certainly was a complex person, his mind was full of beautiful ideas, and just like in his paintings sometimes they were so beautiful they were painful...
