A lovely blog by my friend

Lovely cool evening the Lord
gave us. Rich food and richness
in thoughts and relationships!
I don't think of worship as
repetitive but it is. This quote
made me think that it should
have results as I draw close
to the Lord. Yes, laundry has
results but it's always there.
Organic. You know like compost!
Always growing.
My time with the
Lord has changed a bit since Tuesday.
Today,
I looked up into the blue morning sky
from my deck and said
to the Lord : I will drink deeply
from Your Spirit. ( Eph. 5:18)
I had some new insight into prayer.
Prayer for my children.
"Both laundry and worship are repetitive
activities with a potential for tedium,
and I hate to admit it, but laundry often
seems like the more useful of the tasks.
But both are the work that God has
given us to do."

I haven't read the book, so perhaps I should not comment. But, from the quote, I will.
Laundry has the physical quality of hands on....you take the pile (or part of the pile!), load the washer, hang it out (for the energy-minded) or load the dryer, fold and put away. The task is complete. Accomplishment.
But worship.....worship is nourishment for the soul. Isn't is wonderful that it is "repetitive"...not as a task to be accomoplished but as a never ending outpouring to God. Oh, for the lives who have no such desire.

Thank you for the mention of this little book, which I did not know about but which I am going to find....I first read her 'Cloister Walk' a couple of years ago, and then 'Dakota" this year. I so enjoy her way of viewing things and explaining them that goes deep into the heart of things...her words lead one to pause and consider and learn.
