The P.O.

I am one of those people who love stamps, notecards, and anything to do with mailboxes! So when I read this quote tonight , I thought about writing a letter.

“The P.O. was a capital little institution, and flourished wonderfully, for nearly as many queer things passed through it as through the real office. Tragedies and cravats, poetry and pickles, garden-seeds and long letters, music and gingerbread, invitations, scoldings and puppies.”
-Louisa May Alcott

I do believe the art of a letter will not die.  The impact of a long letter or short letter giving strength will always endure.

Saturday mail to end this summer?  in August?

What a lovely painting at the top of your blog. I haven't commented for a while so i hadn't seen it. I'm starting to write a weekly letter to Clara in Montana. They are so far out in the boonies that I think mail will be a real delight. Had such fun writing a four page letter to her the other morning. There are even some stamps with cyclists on them, so I pretend I'm putting my picture on the front of the letter ; )

Love to you this pretty spring morning!

You'll keep it alive!! And you pass it on to so many others. Just today I wrote a dear patient of mine who became my friend and moved away. She's in a rehab facility, and hopefully my note will bring her some cheer. You inspire me to write such notes!!
