Far From the Madding Crowd

Everyman edition that went back to the library today. I got up to Chapter 27 Hiving the Bees.
I adored the paper and the ribbon. I love ribbons in books.

Hardy took the title from Thomas Gray's poem Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard (1751).
Far From the madding crowd's ignoble strife
Their sober wishes never learn'd to stray;
Along the cool sequester'd vale of life
They kept the noiseless tenor of their way.
"Madding" means "frenzied" here.

here is my copy that I will finish reading this wonderful story:

Look here at the quote on beauty that I posted....now on a mug

I'm encouraged to continue reading it too. Our middle daughter, Willa, saw it in the library bookstore, but a smaller trade paperback. I think I'll hold out on the copy you mention. A prettier read. :)
