thinking upon sisters

In writing my sister a letter this morning,
I was left with the thoughts of sisters.
What if we had another one?
What if we had 4 others like we do brothers?
Six brothers.

What if my daughter had a sister?
She has 4 others who are brothers.
What if?

I think there is the beginning of a story.
I am reading Ann Patchett's new book
and it is a book of essays that have been
published in various magazines and journals.
I adore her writing!

The title essay is very good and not what I expected.
I hope to meet her one day because she has made me
laugh and made me think.

..... the story of my marriage, which is the great joy and astonishment of my life, is too much like a fairy tale, the German kind, unsweetened by Disney.”

What are you growing in your garden?

Will replace tarragon with rosemary.

Easter Monday

 I was thrilled to find an Easter Monday Lent Devotion
from Biola University. I spent time listening to Keith
Green sing over and over again. I spent time copying
Peter Marshall's prayer and looking at the video and
paintings. i spent time copying the words to the song.
I will miss this multi-level time in music, paintings,
and words. Not sure how long Lent goes on but  it
didn't end this morning.

We have a glorious day here.
- doing laundry and hanging outside

- finishing up THE BOOK OF THE DUN COW by
Walter Wangerin with my students.
This is beautifully written AND makes  my heart soars.
Met the author at a Rabbit Room event last August
in Nashville. This is the first of three in a series.
Madeleine L'Engle told him to write one about JOY
and the last one is on that subject.
I highly recommend it to all ages.

a bit slow

How could it be so hard to make a Shutterfly card?
Or book?
Really easy and if I can do it , anyone can.
( do not laugh)

Son #4 is graduating on Mother's Day.
( Why they do that , I don't understand)
And at 9:00 a.m.
Yes, it is early and have to make lunch
reservations or have a party at his apt.
( just thought of that as I write)
SO had to get a photo card of his year.
Some on the bottom here but I only used three.

So learning to steal Facebook photos,
here are some:

Lady Buckingham ( parents are #3 son and his wife)

Emma and dear friends in NYC  recently:
( yes, a trip to see a wonderful college and you see Spring has not arrived in the North)

The almost graduate... can you guess where he is?

April Showers

I love the fresh Spring green of the trees now.
Dogwoods are blooming. Ahhh...... and tiny little details of life:

We can almost open windows but for the rain yesterday. This is not my window but
it is giving me ideas of redoing some windows.

A poem which I heard today in a lecture from Hutchmoot 2013. So I had to find it and post it.
Needing to put some order in the disorder after being gone for the weekend!

A Sweet Disorder

Robert Herrick (1591–1674)

A sweet disorder in the dress
Kindles in clothes a wantonness;
A lawn about the shoulders thrown
Into a fine distraction;
An erring lace, which here and there
Enthrals the crimson stomacher;
A cuff neglectful, and thereby
Ribands to flow confusedly;
A winning wave, deserving note,
In the tempestuous petticoat;
A careless shoe-string, in whose tie
I see a wild civility:
Do more bewitch me, than when art
Is too precise in every part.
